Publix Ideas & Ways to Save!

Hey everyone! I'm trying to get more active and give you all some good stuff to use on your grocery adventures. Here's a picture of what I did today while shopping at Publix:
This totaled right around $16

Here's a couple of ideas for you and how to score this deal... First off, look for the Kimberly Clark pamphlet in your local Publix store. It will look like this:

This brochure is LOADED with Publix coupons. When you spend $35 or more on those products, you get a $10 Publix gift card. Sweet, eh? (Side note: These coupons expire on 4/30, so pick yours up quickly and get a move on!)

Another thing I'd like to recommend is that you sign up for the Publix Baby Club (even if you don't have a baby). You will get an awesome book about raising and caring for a child up to age 5 as well as a TON of coupons quarterly. Lots of the coupons are for freebies, so definitely sign up. Here is the link for you:

Other than that, I hope you are having an awesome day! Don't forget the "Couponing 101" class at my house on May 21st. If you haven't let me know yet that you are coming, please do so. I can give you the details - just send me an email or post a comment below.

"Couponing 101" Class is coming!

It's finally that time! I am hosting a "Couponing 101" class and coupon swap at my house. I'm looking towards either May 21st or June 4th - depends on when is best for everyone who wants to attend. In the meantime, here's what you can do to prepare yourself:
  • Get at least 2 Sunday papers each week (you don't have to even take out the coupon inserts, just bring them with you) We will pull more than just the coupon inserts, FYI. Oh, and it is VERY VERY IMPORTANT that you do not cut out ANYTHING....You will learn why!
  • Walk the aisles in the grocery stores and pull coupons from the electronic dispensers
  • Go to Publix and collect all of the store coupons in brochures that you can find
  • Bring everything you find in a ziploc bag and we will work through it and maybe even swap some things!
I will get you set up when you come! Also, after the class, I will start blogging instructions on how to save money with your shopping each week, so be ready.

If you can comment below on what day is best for you, that would be great. Keep in mind that you have to actually "follow" me to post a comment. (I know that's a drag, sorry!!)

Happy Thursday!

Let's talk briefly about the "Extreme Couponing" show

So have you watched TLC's Extreme Couponing show? Can that really happen? My guess is that it COULD happen, but the likelihood of ringing up $1800 in groceries and paying only around $30 is not probable. Why?

Well, most stores will not let you ring up 18 transactions nor spend 2 hours ringing you up! Also, the store having more than 20-25 mustard containers on the shelf for any customer to buy 56 in one transaction is highly unlikely. In fact, I took a picture of the mustard shelf in Publix this afternoon and this is what I found:
You can see that there is way too much competition from other brands for them to stock more than 20-25 French's Mustards.

My guess is that the entire show is staged and that the stores (and the manager) know that the ladies are coming with film crew. Otherwise, it wouldn't have happened. So what does this mean for you? Yes, you can still save a BUNDLE on your groceries and get some "extreme" deals, but odds are that you won't be buying 56 bottles of mustard nor will you be ringing up 18 separate transactions. (In fact, my CVS has a sign up that states you can only do 2 transactions if using coupons.)

Happy shopping!

1st Order of Business: Where in the world are all these coupons hiding?!?!

Of course we all know that the Sunday paper has loads of coupons in it, right? Well, I will tell you from experience that Sunday is the ONLY day that coupons come, so don't bother with a subscription (I signed up and realized that a lot of money was going down the drain as I only want coupons and not the acutal paper - LOL) What you are looking for are 1 of 3 different coupon inserts: Red Plum, Smart Source and P&G. Typically I get 2-3 papers each week and have been known to grab 6 depending on what the ads look like for the new week ahead.

Search & WinYou can also get coupons from other various online resources. One of my favorites is Swagbucks. This site ROCKS! You can sign up and get gift cards, etc. How does it work? Well, the link I just posted is for my referral page. Each time someone signs up under me, I get free points. What's the WIIFM? (....or what's in it for you??) Well, there are coupons listed on the site along the left-hand side. When you print coupons - which you can print 2 of the same coupon per computer - and use the coupons, you get 10 points. It is really that easy. Another sweet tid-bit about this site is that you can use their search feature and win points randomly just by searching. You can very easily get $5 giftcard to various stores!

Some other sites to note for coupons are:

http://www.coupons.com/couponweb/offers.aspx (Keep in mind that this website and Swagbucks have the SAME coupons. I would always print from Swagbucks so you can get the points for using the coupon!)

Facebook is also a great resource for coupons as well as product websites!

Okay, well that should get a little information in your hands. I will be back with more later, but I don't want to overwhelm you! Ha!

Have a great night!

It's Beginning...

Welcome to my blog!

I have decided to show you all how I am saving so much money when I shop. It is VERY addicting saving so much money on stuff! You may think, "Coupons make me buy things I will never use" or "Why did you buy that? You will never use it?" Well guess what? If it is free, then who cares? Someone will use it! Here are some examples of what you can do with all of the extra stuff you get (feel free to add your ideas):

  • Send a care package overseas to someone serving in the military
  • Put together ziploc bags of a few items and hand them out to the homeless
  • Stocking stuffers!
  • Send a package to someone working in the Missions field
  • Donate to a local hospital or food bank
  • Use it! I have found more new things that I love that I would have never tried before couponing!
Please don't hesitate to ask me if you have any questions! Have fun and HAPPY SHOPPING!
